Getting Started

I made a mannequin out of duct tape last Sunday, February 27.
My sister wrapped me up in the duct tape. I admit it was a fun project to do with my family. It took a couple hours to complete and then cut me out of it. I think the hardest part was stuffing the thing. It took a massive amount of time, energy, recycled paper, scrap clothing materials and recycled grocery bags but finally my sister, her boyfriend, and I got the job done.
I had a bit of trouble with the bust area and the upper back part of my mannequin because apparently I was slumped over and no one realize that it would effect the outcome shape of the mannequin or well, no one noticed that I was slumped over. So my mannequin it a bit deformed but it's the first time I've made one and I don't plan on it being the last.
After I finished my mannequin I was so excited and couldn't wait to go out and buy materials for my first dress project. I did a little bit of research on dress patterns before I went looking material to use and I found a dress that I wanted to try and make. It was a summer dress with bright colors but when I got to the store I saw a green leafy pattern with brown in it and a brown stretchy material that went really well together and I walked out with a whole different dress idea in mind from the one I walked in the store with.
My dress is almost complete now except that I have to put straps on it. I will blog later with pictures of my very first project.
